💡 Stephanie's Tips for Quilt Sizing Success:
  • Account for the 'Quilt Tax' Shrinkage: Keep in mind that once you sew all your blocks together, add batting, and stitch your gorgeous quilting lines, your final quilt top will shrink a tiny bit! The denser your quilting stitches are, the more your project will pull in. Always aim for the larger side of the measurement range if you love a generous, extra-drapey fit!
  • The Pillow Tuck Extra: If you are sewing a gorgeous bed quilt and want that classic, beautiful vintage look where the blanket folds up and neatly tucks over the bed pillows, don't forget to add an extra 20 inches to the total length of your quilt size!
  • Keep Your Pieces Perfectly Anchored: When planning out large block layouts or piecing massive rows on your layout wall, it is so easy to mix up the order of your blocks. I love using my favorite handmade stitch markers or colorful clips to label my rows numerically—it keeps your sections perfectly organized so you don't accidentally sew a row upside down!
